Education is a multidisplinary subject and the only subject that gives a holistic idea about the entire education system ranging from child education to other forms of education including tertiary education and beyond. Education plays an instrumental role for the proper psychological and physical development of an individual. Education as a subject in schools and colleges becomes imperative to include the qualities which the subject is endowed with.
The department of Education of New Alipore College began its journey in the year 2003 with pass course. The results of the students of the department in the university examination were remarkably satisfactory for several years since inception. On the basis of this achievement the department made an attempt to upgrade itself to the Honours course. The attempt was made successfully with the active co-operation of our then Principal sir Dr. S.K Das. Thus the Honours course was started in the department in 2007 with two CWTT. That the department was able to upgrade itself in a decade speaks volumes for the teachers of the department as well as the students. Now the department has one full time teacher and six guest lecturer working to manage the teaching load. The present faculty is competent in handling the entire course efficiently which is proved by the performance of the students. The department maintains good and harmonious student-teacher relationship.
