REPORT OF THE
INTER COLLEGE STATE SPORTS & GAMES CHAMPIONSHIP 2016-17 (SOUTH KOLKATA DISTRICT)

With due thanks to the Education Directorate & Higher Education department, Govt of West Bengal, who believed on New Alipore College to host the Inter College State Sports & Games Championship 2016-17(South Kolkata District), Sri Aroop Biswas, the honorable Chairman, President, Governing Body, New Alipore College, Prof. Dibes Bera, the Organizing Secretary, Teacher-in-Charge, New Alipore College, Dr.Rajarshi Kayal, the Govt Observer, Asst Prof in Physical Education, Pingla Thana Mahavidyalaya, all the members of different committees & representatives of all the colleges, we express our gladness about the success of the above said Championship.

After receiving the offer letter for hosting the championship, we informed 33 colleges in the South Kolkata District by letter, email and phone & conducted meeting with all the colleges regarding the upcoming event. Among them, 16 colleges participated in various games & events. We got 291 students from various colleges who participated in various events. Among them, 126 students appeared for Athletics, 26 for Badminton & 139 for football. All the candidates were very much punctual & co-operative.

Sports and games both are very important and easy way to improve physical and mental fitness. In this regard, regular training for the students is introduced under the supervision of skilled instructor by the New AliporeCollege. Football, cricket, badminton and indoor games like, table tennis, carom, chess etc are played and competitions are also held in different session of the year. Often, our college hosts different district level Sports and Games Championship.
