BA(Philosophy)

The Department is in existence since the inception of the college in 1963. Many luminary teachers enriched the Department, in the years of yore. The eminent Dramatist Manoj Mitra was a teacher of Philosophy of our Department.  Likewise, many students of the Department brought glory to the college, as well as to the Department in respect of both academic laurels and brilliant achievements in other fields.

The Honours course was opened in the Department in the year 2002. Since then, the students have become enthusiastic about studying philosophy.

In the department Philosophy Honours and General Courses are offered to the students. At present there are two types of students in the department – CBCS and previous (1+1+1) system for both Honours and General. Department were conducted Regular class tests and also followed Examination and Evaluation system framed by our affiliating University.

Faculty members of the department are involved in various research activities. They published their articles in different reputed ISSN Journals, ISBN volumes, Seminar Proceedings regularly. Our two teachers of the Department are pursuing their Ph.D. from Jadavpur University and Calcutta University.

All teachers of the department teach their students very carefully and we also communicate guardian of the students regularly for acknowledge their son/daughters academic proggress.We also arrange parent –teachers meeting every quarterly to share our views. Moreover we all often arrange remedial classes for all students.

We have celebrated Teachers Day. Different popular talks, seminars & amp; Speech by Alumni are arranged in the department. Recently some eminent persons Dr. Aparajita Mukhopadhyay, Dr.Aparna Sadhu, Dr.Chandrani Acharya, Daya Dissanayake, and Swagata Ghosh, Ratna Basu delivered their valuable lectures to boost up ours students. Our ex-students who are well established in the education field also visit our department to meet the present students. We also organize departmental alumni meet every year. We organize educational excursion  for the students for their social awareness. Every year we, the departmental colleagues and the students organize departmental picnic for fresh up their minds. The department was signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with kisore Bharati Bhagini Nibedita College for exchange of views of our students in modern idea of Philosophy.
