All library users share in the responsibility for making the libraries safe and pleasant places for research, reading, study, and productive work. Please observe the rules and guidelines outlined below.
· All are requested to maintain dignified silence inside library.Talking loudly inside the library premises should be avoided.
·Mobiles should be turned to silent mode when entering the Libraries. If you must make or receive calls, please be considerate of others. Please keep calls short and move to corridor outside.
·All the usersof the Library are required to keep their bags, cases, folders and other belongings at the property counter before entering the reading rooms. Only laptop, tab, ipad, notebooks and library books to be returned will be allowed inside. Please do not leave any valuables at the property counter. Library is not responsible for any loss of personal belongings.
Library does not permit any exception in the observance of this rule
· Note that any unattended belongings are left at the owner's risk and users are strongly advised not to leave valuables even if they will be away from the desk for a short time.
·Beverages and eatables are not allowed inside the library reading rooms (General Reading Room and Teacher’s Reading Room).
·Smoking is not permitted inside the Library premises
·Library Membership Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
·No visitor or guest is permitted to use the Library without the prior permission of the Librarian. He/She is required to produce a proper introduction letter from the concerned Institution/Organization to which he/she is attached.
·Users are requested to enter their details in user attendance registers at the entrance of reading room.
·Books removed from the shelves by users for consultation, should be kept on the circulation counter or on table nearest to them after use. Please do not try to reshelve them yourself.
Remember that a book misplaced is a book lost .
·The newspaper(s) should be folded properly after reading and kept back in the designated place
·Users should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource as per rule. Books borrowed should be protected from rain, dust, insects etc.
·Members of the library are advised not to issue books to others on their names/ card.
·All the books issued to the students must be returned before due date as stamped on the date label of the issued book to avoid fine. All the library books should be returned before University Examination ( Part-I,Part-II, Part-III) in order to get library clearance.
Without library clearance student shall be denied admit card/mark sheet.
·Before registering for new session, all the dues of the library must be clear including overdue books else these borrowing facilities shall be withhold.
·All the books issued to library members (Teaching and Non-teaching staffs) must be returned at the time of Summer Recess for physical verification.
·Library reserves the right to call back any issued book/item at any time.
·Students and outsiders are not allowed to enter the circulation area without the consent of the library staff.
·Library furniture, fittings or equipment must not be misused or their arrangement altered.
·No library equipment (computers, printers, furniture and like) can be tampered, moved or modified without permission from the librarian.
·Please do not remove any connected device (like LAN card, mouse, printer etc) from computers.
· Note that the Library Attendants at the circulation counter are authorized to examine any book in possession of the library user at any time. All files, books and notebooks, if asked, must be presented to the library attendant for inspection while leaving the Library.
·Library staffs have the right to ask students to leave the library premises if they are behaving inappropriately or in any way causing disturbance to the other users.
·The Library sub-committee or Librarian have the power to suspend/ exclude from the use of the library any user who disregards the library Rules and Regulations.
· The Librarian, with the approval of the Principal/ Convener of the library committee, reserves the right to add, delete, or modify any of these rules asand when required.

The New Alipore College Library support the teaching, research and learning mission of the by New Alipore College providing access to the broadest possible range of ideas, opinions, and knowledge. To that end, the Library subscribes to and makes available various electronic information resources of local, national, and international origin and interest. These resources include periodicals, online catalogues, full text databases and the Internet. These resources are available for individual educational and research purposes only.
