Best Practice of College

  1. Keeping the girls’ students health hazards in mind, initiatives have been taken to install a sanitary napkin vending machine. In this connection, the Womens’ Cell organised a programme on that in the girls’ common room on 11th October, 2018. The programme was graced by one woman councillor who spoke on different taboos regarding menstruation and emphasised proper sanitization and importance of cleanliness.

  2. On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the Womens’ Cell organised a programme on 07th March, 2019.  The students were addressed on certain issues like social security, discriminations, gender violence and, most importantly, empowerment of women. Prof. Hardik Biswas, Faculty member, School of Women’s Studies, Jadavpur University, delivered a lecture on different theories of feminism and the importance of bridging the gap between academic activities and activism regarding feminism.

  3. A session on “Towards Inclusiveness” was organized by Women’s Cell, on 23rd April, 2019. Kalyani Thakur, Dalit writer and activist, and Tista Das, trans-activist and poet, shared their experiences with the faculty members and students. The program was designed to spread awareness about the social discrimination of Dalits and Transgender people and to focus on their achievements.

  4. The college has installed eco-friendly 60Kwatt Solar panels  and the excess electricity generated is transmitted   to the national grid. This has brought down the electricity bill of the college substantially.  Energy-saving LED and CFL lights have been installed in every place of the college premises in replacement of tube lights used earlier.

  5. New Alipore College library has a special collection on 'Dalit Studies'. Researchers, students and teachers from other institutes can also use the same with  permission from the authority.

  6. The college looks after the mentalABOIT US/ BEST PRACTICES  wellbeing of its stakeholders. "Principal on Call" is a special drive to reach out students. Students can call the principal and share with him the problems regarding studies, examinations  and worries related to Covid '19.
