About
Environmental Studies

The Department of Environmental Studies started its journey since March, 2019 onwards and later the department was formed in July, 2020. The Compulsory course (AECC-2) is taught by three faculties named Dr. Sumita Swar, Mrs. Tanushree Gaine and Ms. Ishita Ray in three different shifts from morning to evening. The morning section is supervised by Mrs. Tanushree Gaine, the day section by Dr. Sumita Swar and the evening section by Ms. Ishita Ray. Each year this mandatory course educates more than 850 students from Science and Arts background and more than 250 students from commerce background.

Although the department does not offer any General or Honours Course till date, the department (only Compulsory ENVS AECC2) has organized national seminar, international webinar and awareness talk with eminent scientists and researchers to create the awareness and disseminate the knowledge among students.

The department also celebrates the environmentally significant days with AECC-2 current semester students of each year and encourages them to participate by making sustainable waste to wealth tools, videos etc.

Interesting topics which were related with current affairs or situations was given to the students each year for writing their compulsory 30 marks project.

The departmental faculties are engaged in various research activities along with learning things from national/international webinars, course or orientation programs to educate the students more efficiently.

Teachers also used modern information and communication technologies (ICT) to conduct virtual classes and educate the students especially during pandemic days.

The department feels delighted to having such a huge of students each year from several streams and feels proud for their good academic achievements.
