B.COM(Commerce)

The department started its journey in the year 1969.The shift has administrative staff and operates in the evening under the guidance of Evening Supervisor cum H.O.D. For over three decades we have been imparting education to both Honours and General students of University of Calcutta. Both male and female students of the department participate in different institutional activities. National and state level seminars have been organised by the department. Students lecture on different topics are also being arranged by the department. The faculty members guide the students in preparing several research projects in different topics in Commerce. The department has already decided to start post graduate courses.

Project

Facilities

  1. Presently the Commerce Dept. is running in the Annex Building of New Alipore College. The building is named as Vidyasagar Bhavan.
  1. The total number of classrooms available in Vidyasagar Bhavan are 5. There is one more classroom available for the department in the ground floor of the main building and the IT lab runs on the top floor of the main building.
  1. The staffroom has moderate space provided with AC, Computer along with internet facility.
  1. The IT lab has approximately 20 PCs with internet connection.
  1. The staffroom and the classrooms are under the CCTV surveillance.
  1. Professor Dr. Anupam Karmakar, one of the faculties of the department is acting as an academic counsellor of the entire college and he is organising different career counselling sessions with different academic and professional institutes for providing employment opportunities to all the students of the college.
