New Alipore College has been maintaining a rich cultural background since its inception in 1963. Our students regularly participate in various inter and intra collegiate competitions in drama, dance, recitation, debate, essay writing, quiz and so on. Students’ performance in drama deserves special mention as our College drama team has been winning many awards for years on end in different State-level competitions. Sometimes, the students stage flash mob road-shows on social issues. The teachers provide inspiration and guidance to this end.
Speaking of cultural shows taking place at our College campus, our students never lack spontaneity and enthusiasm to showcase their talents at various occasions celebrated at different times of the year. Students’ programmes, mind-blowing as they are, sometimes get further enlivened by exhilarating performances staged by the teachers and by the non-teaching staff-members as well. The presentations are, almost always, arranged in a manner that infuses entertainment with enlightenment.
The winter season witnesses a wonderful Carnival named AVENSIS. The three day programme consists of several events like Departmental Exhibitions, Music Workshop, Quiz Competition, Extempore, Debate, Painting and Drama Competition. The three day long programme gets concluded with a Cultural Programme by the students, teachers and the non-teaching staff. The enthusiasm and proactive participation of the entire college especially the students have always remained overwhelming and consequently the festival is a huge success. In 2017 the College introduced this novel three-day Annual Cultural Festival. As the year 2017 wound to its end, AVENSIS was held for three consecutive days just before the commencement of Christmas holidays. This wonderful winter carnival consisted of several events like Departmental Exhibitions, Music Workshop, Quiz Competition, Extempore Speech, Debate, Painting and Drama Competition. The three day long programme concluded with cultural programmes staged by the students, teachers and the non-teaching staff-members. Given the overwhelming success of AVENSIS and enthusiastic participation of all the stake-holders of the College, it has been decided that such a winter carnival will be held in each academic year.
